For those more familiar with the vernacular of Wall Street than of fantasy sports leagues, a golf-obsessed MBA in Colorado named John Mueller has created an intriguing golf stock market at golfinvestors.com. Each stock is priced according to investors' expectations of a Tour pro's future winnings. The big fantasy market lasts all year, with the final value of each equity determined by the pro's year-end total winnings. Mueller also runs smaller fantasy markets around each major. The competition is against all other investors, but you can also form a group, or league, to keep track of how your portfolio's value compares to that of your friends. The kick is in deploying realistic stock-market tools (some of which require a $5 monthly fee in the otherwise free game), such as going short or buying on margin. Plus, the site's excellent player stats are fun even if you aren't in the game. Eventually Mueller hopes to create a real-money version of the market.
